Clay dust can kill!!!
Silicosis is a long-term lung disease caused by inhaling large amounts of crystalline silica dust, usually over many years.
Clay dust should be avoided at all times.
-Keep your tools clean after use, letting clay dry on them will create more clay dust.
-Aim to clean all clay up while it is still wet... before it dries.
-Consider using a spray bottle to help eliminate dust.
-Avoid using a broom, rather, scoop up always use a wet sponge or mop, to avoid sending clay dust into the air.
-Avoid creating clay dust by not sanding or carving dry clay. Work outside whenever possible.

Clay and your clothes..
Clay will wash out of clothes, some glazes will not.
Aprons are provided. However you are welcome to bring in your own clay shirt or apron.
Consider which shoes you will be wearing, they will most likely get messing when throwing on the wheel.
You are welcome to bring in an old towel to use while working as well if you'd like.

Be mindful of that you are in a shared space.
-DO NOT put clay, or plaster, down the drains. It could potentially clog the drain!
-Use the baskets in the sink to pre-rinse your tools and your hands in.
-If trash, dirt, plaster or another other foreign materials finds it's way into the clay, trash those pieces.
-Scraps, free of dirt or plaster, should be recycled
-Your mess is YOURS to clean and should be done after every work session.
-All tools should be returned clean and free of clay.
-Try your best to contain your work to your cubby, work left out in the shared space might not be there when you return.
-Before you leave the studio, ask what else you can do to help.
